He has been with the Jardine Group since 1967 and has worked at various locations outside Singapore. He is a board member of various Group companies within and outside Singapore, include Asia-Pacific Regional Board. Jardies has substantial investments in Singapore with core activities including property, hotels, isurance broking, banking, mortor trading, supermarkets, engineering and construction. Most group operations use Singapore as a hub in South East Asia and South Asia and maket leaders in their respective fields in the region.

The Jardine Group operates in more than 30 countries employing over 110,000 people. An Asian-based conglomerate with 175-year history. Jardines, founded in China in 1832, has an extensive network of offices in the region. Jardin Cycle & Carriage Ltd (JC&C), a subsidiary of the group, has extensive interest in motor trading in Singapore and Indonesia, where JC&C also has substantial motor cycle, agri-business, coal-mine contracting, infrastructural and financial services activities through a subsidiary, Astra International.

He also serves on the board and advisory committee of a number of non-Jardine companies including MNCs.

He is the Honorary Secretary of the Singapore National Employers' Federation, and on the Board of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC), having served as Chairman from 1988 to 1989. He serves on the Governing Council of the Singapore Institute of Directors and is a member of the Singapore National Council of INSEAD, a leading international graduate business school. He is a member of the Competition Appeal Board and the National Wages Council.

He was awarded the Public Service Medal in this year's Singapore National Day Honours.
