ICPAS Welcomes New Council Members

Mr Ho Tuck Chuen, Group CFO of Jurong Town Corporation, Professor Ho Yew Kee, Vice Dean (Finance and Administration) of the NUS Business School, and Mr Peter Chay, Deputy Managing Partner of KPMG in Singapore, have been elected to the Council of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS). As ICPAS Council Members, they will join the leadership team at the Institute to provide strategic direction and counsel for ICPAS’ developments.

ICPAS Unveils New Websites to Boost Accountants’ Professional Development 

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS) has launched three websites to provide more online resources for accountants – ICPASjobs, a portal for jobs in accountancy and business, the ICPAS CPE micro site to support accountants’ Continuing Professional Education and a redesigned corporate website featuring a modern look and quick access to key content.

Summary of Singapore Standard on Auditing (SSA) 510: Initial Audit Engagements – Opening Balances 

This SSA is effective for audits of financial statements for periods commencing on or after 15 December 2009, and it replaces the extant SSA 510 Initial Engagements Opening Balances. An initial audit engagement is an engagement in which the financial statements for the prior period were not audited, or the financial statements for the prior period were audited by a predecessor auditor.
